Waterosity 2009

Overview

Waterosity was a design competition hosted by the Minneapolis Landscape Arboretum. We were one of 10 groups picked from a pool of 90 in a juried art/design competition. Working in a group of three design professionals, we explored per capita water usage around the world. The design pieces here represent three different aspects of the project:
• Water Story infographic (2D design)
• Art installation
• A general information piece on water use (not branded by our personal project)

Project Details

Waterosity project was a visual intrepretation of per capita water use around the world. This is water we drink and wash and bathe with but it also considers the water used in the production of the goods we use everyday. This project consisted of a 2D map of water use around the world and a full scale art installation. There was also a general water use piece designed for the project as a whole.

Technical Details

2D design pieces were designed using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Information for these pieces was aquired from UN-Water Statistics

3D Art installation was constructed with 10' high tubes with 2' diameter, wood posts, wheat from seed and our own blood sweat and tears.

Northwest Opticians & Dunn Brothers Coffee

Overview

Northwest Opticians & Dunn Brothers Coffee are two businesses with the same owner in one space. This project had a unique challenge of marrying the two businesses while having two completely different websites.

Project Details

Northwest Opticians has been a fun, constantly changing site. There are regular updates to stock, reviews and specials - most of this can be done by the client through the content management system backend. This website hosted a web contest on the site with a local radio station myTalk 107.1 which greatly increased site traffic. This project has also included mobile coupons and QR code integration.

Vodafone 360 Service

Vodafone 360 keeps your contacts across services in sync with your devices and provides a one-stop destination for compelling mobile content.

Overview

Our modes of contact have expanded to include myriad phone numbers, IM handles, social networks, email addresses and the occasional snail mail. The groundbreaking Vodafone 360 service includes a super address book that manages your information at all touch points. Unfortunately its utility was not well understood by users. Further, site traffic was not being exposed to Vodafone's rich content offerings.

Solution

jsalita design prioritized feature sets and discarded functionality that was not core to its services. The new, streamlined interface uses familiar metaphors for contact management and engaging, large-format graphics for merchandising content.

Result

Working with Vodafone teams across Europe, the new 360 was rolled out in over 15 countries in record time. The 360 syncing service, content store and desktop companion have been called “the best we've ever launched” by teams within the company.
